Ohio Approves Nation’s First Freshwater Offshore Wind Farm

Ohio unanimously approved the Icebreaker Wind Farm planned for offshore of Cleveland. It will be the first offshore wind farm in freshwater in the U.S. The approval comes after a decade of planning for the project and includes a series of conditions that must be met before, during, and after construction. One of those requirements is that the project go silent for months of the year to protect birds and bats.
