New Wave Buoy Deployed in Puerto Rico

A new wave buoy was successfully deployed off the coast of Arecibo—on the north side of Puerto Rico—on June 14, 2021. As part of the Caribbean Coastal Ocean Observing system, or CARICOOS, this Arecibo buoy is the most recent installment of data collection buoys, which record critical information about the surrounding ocean and weather. This deployment was a collaborative effort between CARICOOS and the National Renewable Energy Laboratory.
