Dominion Energy Plans 220 Turbine Offshore Wind Project
Dominion Energy is planning a 220 wind turbine farm off the coast of Virginia Beach in federal waters they have already leased. The project is located 27 miles off shore and would produce more than 2,600 megawatts of energy, which is enough to power 650,000 homes. Dominion hopes to begin ocean survey work in the area in 2020 and starting the first phase of power generation in 2024 consisting of 880 megawatts. Additional phases would come online in 2025 and 2026.
