Additional Bids Would add 350 Megawatts of Offshore Wind to Rhode Island

Rhode Island residents are already using power from the first offshore wind farm in the US and plans are in place to buy another 400 megawatts of offshore wind. Now, developers are proposing to sell an additional 350 megawatts to the state. The state received 41 bids in response to the request for proposal. This is all part of the governor’s push to increase the supply of power from wind, solar, and renewable energy as a whole to 1,000 megawatts by 2020.
